Alberta Responsible Gaming Policy

Alberta
  1. Purpose of This Document

This document sets out the responsible gaming framework that applies to users accessing the platform from Canada. It describes the tools available to users, the obligations of the platform, and the procedures that users may follow to manage or restrict gambling activity. This policy forms a binding part of the platform’s terms of service and applies to all registered accounts.

Gambling carries inherent risk. No tool or program removes that risk entirely. The measures described in this document are intended to support informed decision-making and to reduce the likelihood of gambling-related harm.

  1. Scope and Application

This policy applies to all individuals who hold a registered account with the platform under the Alberta brand and who access the platform from Canada. Provincial responsible gaming requirements differ across Canadian jurisdictions. Where a specific provincial standard applies to an account, the platform will apply that standard in addition to the baseline requirements set out in this policy.

Each user is responsible for understanding the rules that apply in their province of residence before using the platform.

  1. Player Eligibility and Age Verification

Access to gambling services is restricted to individuals who meet the minimum legal age requirement in their province of residence. In most Canadian provinces, the minimum age is 19 years. In Alberta, Manitoba, and Quebec, the minimum age is 18 years.

Age is verified at the point of registration. The platform may request additional documentation at any time to confirm that an account holder meets the applicable age requirement. Accounts found to belong to individuals below the legal age will be suspended immediately, and any funds held in such accounts will be handled in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements.

3.1 Account Holder Responsibility

Each account may only be used by the registered account holder. Sharing account credentials with another person, including a minor, is prohibited. The account holder is responsible for ensuring that no other person accesses or uses the account.

  1. Responsible Gaming Tools

The platform provides a set of tools that allow users to set boundaries on their gambling activity. These tools are accessible through the account settings section.

4.1 Deposit Limits

Users may set a maximum deposit amount for a defined period: daily, weekly, or monthly. Once a limit is set, it takes effect immediately. Requests to increase an existing limit are subject to a mandatory cooling-off period before the increase becomes active. Requests to reduce a limit take effect without delay.

4.2 Loss Limits

Users may set a maximum loss amount for a defined period. The same rules regarding increases and reductions apply as described under deposit limits.

4.3 Session Time Limits

Users may set a maximum duration for a single gambling session. When the limit is reached, the session ends and the user is logged out automatically.

4.4 Reality Checks

Users may activate periodic reminders that display the duration of the current session and a summary of activity during that session. These reminders appear at intervals chosen by the user.

4.5 Cooling-Off Period

A user who wishes to take a temporary break from gambling may request a cooling-off period. During this period, the account remains open but gambling activity is suspended. A cooling-off period cannot be reversed before it expires.

4.6 Self-Exclusion

A user who wishes to stop gambling for an extended period may request self-exclusion. Self-exclusion suspends access to gambling functions for the duration chosen by the user. Available durations are set out in the account settings section.

During self-exclusion, the platform will not send promotional communications to the excluded account. The platform will take reasonable steps to enforce the exclusion. Self-exclusion on this platform does not automatically extend to other operators or platforms.

Users in Ontario may also register with BetGuard, the centralized self-exclusion program administered by iGaming Ontario, which covers all regulated online gambling sites in that province. Ontario-resident users are encouraged to consider BetGuard in addition to any exclusion applied at the account level.

To request self-exclusion, users may use the account settings section or contact the support team directly. Requests submitted through support will be processed within one business day.

4.7 Account Closure

A user may request permanent account closure at any time. Closure is distinct from self-exclusion. A closed account cannot be reopened. Users who wish to close their account should contact support and confirm the request in writing.

  1. Identification of At-Risk Behaviour

The platform monitors account activity for indicators that may suggest gambling-related harm. These indicators include, but are not limited to:

  • Rapid increases in deposit frequency
  • Repeated attempts to reverse cooling-off periods
  • Patterns of extended uninterrupted play

Where such indicators are identified, the platform may take one or more of the following steps:

  • Display responsible gaming information within the account interface
  • Contact the account holder directly to provide information about available tools and support resources
  • Apply temporary restrictions to the account pending review

Information gathered through this monitoring process will not be used for marketing purposes.

  1. Information and Support Resources

The platform provides access to information about gambling risk, warning signs, and support services. This information is available within the platform and through the support team.

Users seeking assistance with gambling-related concerns may contact the following organizations:

  • Problem Gambling Helpline (Canada): 1-866-531-2600
  • ConnexOntario (Ontario residents): 1-866-531-2600
  • Responsible Gambling Council: responsiblegambling.org

Users are encouraged to contact their provincial health authority or gaming regulator for information about local treatment and counselling services. The platform does not provide clinical treatment or counselling services directly.

  1. Obligations of the Platform

Under this policy, the platform is required to:

  • Make responsible gaming tools available and accessible within the account interface at all times
  • Apply limit reductions and self-exclusion requests without unnecessary delay
  • Provide accurate information about game rules and betting conditions before a wager is placed
  • Refrain from directing promotional communications to self-excluded accounts
  • Train staff who interact with users to recognize signs of gambling-related harm and to respond appropriately
  • Review this policy periodically and update it to reflect changes in applicable provincial standards
  1. Complaints and Policy Concerns

Users who believe that this policy has not been applied correctly may submit a complaint through the platform’s standard complaints procedure. Complaints related to responsible gaming will be reviewed by a designated team and responded to within five business days.

If a user is not satisfied with the outcome of a complaint, they may contact the relevant provincial gaming regulator. In Ontario, the applicable regulator is the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO).

  1. Policy Updates

This responsible gaming policy is reviewed on a regular basis. Updates may be made to reflect changes in provincial regulatory requirements, platform procedures, or available tools. Users will be notified of material changes through the platform or by email sent to the address registered on their account. Continued use of the platform following notification of a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
